A poll by SEO Round Table of 500 respondents revealed 94% of victims of the Google Penguin update have not managed to recover. Of the 500 responses, 81% said they have not recovered while 13% said they had partially recovered and 6% said they have fully recovered.

Google’s link based algorithm filter, the Penguin update, was originally introduced in April 2012 and has since had two further updates. Many websites saw their search engine rankings change dramatically after the update as it began penalising websites it deemed to be spamming results.
